Computers have made deep inroads into radio stations in the past 20 years, and our companies of On Air Digital and Smarts Broadcast Systems have worked hard to keep everything integrated.

The scorecard right now is that the Smarts Billing and Traffic program qualifies as the oldest program that is still under the same ownership.

Furthermore, our company is the only one to have developed and to sell all three programs, digital audio, traffic and music selection, commonly used in radio stations. To be sure, some other companies have purchased a traffic or music system to round out their line, but no one else has actually developed a suite of interrelated programs that are designed to work together.

Actually a DOS traffic program was the first software sold by Smarts. Back then we owned a small market radio station and developed the SMARTS system for our own use. After it was in use for some time other broadcasters asked if they could purchase copies, and Smarts Broadcast Systems was born.

That old DOS program was written back in 1982-83, and believe it or not, is still in use today by a dozen or so stations that just refuse to give it up. Meanwhile, Smarts put together a Windows version called Second Generation or SecGen that is in use at several hundred more stations.

SecGen thinks the way that radio sales reps sell, with extreme flexibility in order entry. It dovetails nicely with Skylla because orders spanning multiple stations can be put in at the same time. With 25 years of experience under our belts in traffic systems, our company can easily handle your single and multiple station needs.
