Selecting and tracking music with Skylla
Music is a very individual thing in broadcasting, and many program directors are unwilling to relinquish control of something so valuable to an impersonal computer. Yet computer technology exists that will produce flawless playlists to exacting specifications.
Smarts Broadcast Systems can either interface to our own music generator, called the Digital Program Director, or to many other programs such as Selector. One of the most convenient things about music selection is that the interface to Skylla is web-based, meaning it can be run from any computer with a web browser. The music interface mixes spots, liners and other material from the program log with music from whatever music program you are using, and creates a completely formatted day.
However, Skylla is designed to allow easy, last minute changes to any program material. There's no need to reload a log to make minor corrections to the programming. Our company is also developing another music program as a successor to Digital Program Director. It also will be web based. Virtually everything about Skylla can be controlled via Internet to make it easy to run your station from any location.
